What are all these servers doing? Are these getting backed up?

In our experience, many IT environments are poorly documented. Sometimes servers have never been managed by dedicated IT administrators. It is sometimes useful to review the roles and configurations of your servers to ensure that they are properly set up and to provide updated documentation. We often do a systems review as an initial project with new clients to identify areas that need improvement.

Some of the areas that we commonly include in a systems review are:

Hardware and software inventory
Server application roles
Network diagram review or creation
Disaster recovery plan review
High availability review – single point of failure analysis
Security audit – firewalls, updates, anti-malware.
